BNPB: Aircraft Is Forbidden to Pass Through Mount Sinabung Karo

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Head of Data, Information and Public Relations Agency of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said the plane flight should not pass around Mount Sinabung following the eruption of the mountain on Monday morning.
"The Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation has been raising the observation alert of volcanoes against flights from orange to red," Sutopo said through a press release in Jakarta on Monday (19/2/2019)
Eruption of Mount Sinabung on Monday morning at 08.53 WIB accompanied by high volcanic ash column 5,000 meters with strong pressure and dark gray color.
The eruption occurred 607 seconds accompanied by hot clouds glide as far as 4,900 meters to the South-East and 3,500 meters to the East-East direction. The wind is blowing toward the South-West.
"PVMBG reported volcanic activity of Mount Sinabung is still very high with the status of Beware," he explained.
On Monday from 06.00 WIB to 12.00 WIB, besides one earthquake eruption during 607 seconds also happened one time hot clouds eruption with 607 seconds duration, 10 ft avalanche hot clouds with duration of 195 seconds to 792 seconds, 14 times earthquake, five times earthquake blast, one time low frequency earthquake and five times deep volcanic earthquake.
BNPB appealed to the Community and visitors or tourists not to engage in activities within three kilometers of the summit, a distance of seven kilometers for the South-East sector, a distance of seven kilometers for the Southeast-East sector and a distance of four kilometers for the North-East sector.
"We also appeal to the people who live and settle near the rivers that head on Mount Sinabung remain alert to the potential danger of lahar," he said.
Regarding the dam that has formed in the upper river Laborus, Sutopo reminded at any time can be broken because it is not strong hold the volume of water resulting in lava or flash floods downstream.
"Residents who live and move around downstream of Laborus River flow to keep vigilance," he said.
