Opposed Pro-Democracy Activist, Two Police Heads Cancel to Become Plt Governor

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - The government has canceled the planned appointment of Task Force (plt) governor of the Police who was originally fill the leadership vacuum in two regions during the 2018 elections.
"For West Java and North Sumatra those have been considered. Later there is another policy that we will do," said Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto in Jakarta, Tuesday (20/2/2018).
A number of parties, opinion leaders and pro-democracy activists strongly opposed the government's plan.
Two previous police generals have been asked by the government to be governor of governor for being competent in handling regional issues, so as to be able to safeguard the elections.
They are the Head of the Division of Profession and Security (Kadiv Propam) Police Inspector General Martuani Sormin who plotted to become North Sumatra Governor's Plt, and Police Chief Assistant for Operations Inspector General Mochamad Iriawan who is planned to serve the Plt of West Java Governor.
However, before the two high-ranking officers were set, government policy was strongly criticized by various parties for violating the Police Act and fearing injury to police neutrality. A number of parties and top opinion leaders and democracy activists strongly opposed the government's plan.
"The government hears the people's aspirations. If there is a policy that is obviously inviting people's reaction, the right reaction and not inconsequential, yes heard and implemented, " said Wiranto.
