OJK Gives License to 20 Micro Endowments Banks

INDUSTRY.co.id - Surabaya - Financial Services Authority continues to encourage the development of micro and micro-SME financing through the establishment of Micro Wakaf Bank or Sharia Micro Finance Institution in various regions.

"OJK has granted business license to 20 Micro Endowment Banks in Pondok Pesantren in Cirebon, Bandung, Ciamis, Serang, Lebak, Purwokerto, Cilacap, Kudus, Klaten, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Jombang and Kediri," said Chairman of OJK Commissioner Board Wimboh Santoso in the launching ceremony of Bank Wakaf Mikro at Pesantren Assalafi Al Fithrah Surabaya on Sunday (11/3/2018).

Wimboh said, with the development of Micro Endowments Bank in pesantren environment is expected to support the development of sustainable sharia economy and can improve people's living standard, and able to reduce inequality and poverty.

The existence of Micro Endowments Bank is also a big commitment OJK with the Government to continue to expand the provision of public financial access, especially for the middle and small communities.

"Micro Wait Bank is expected to provide access to capital or financing for people who have not connected with formal financial institutions, especially in boarding schools that currently number more than 28 thousand boarding schools in various parts of the country," he said.
