BPOM Ensures Candies in Pekanbaru Negative Drugs

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - The Head of the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) Penny Lukito said the results of laboratory tests on candy allegedly containing drugs in Pekanbaru, Riau, negatively containing the substance.
"The sample of sweets consumed by toddlers and mothers has been tested in the laboratory of Balai Besar POM in Pekanbaru with negative drug results," Penny said in a press release received in Jakarta on Wednesday (4/4/2018).
He said the search was conducted BBPOM in Pekanbaru together with the District Health Office Meranti Islands and Resort Police Meranti.
Based on the search, she said, the candy suspected of containing the drug has been registered in BPOM RI. Circulation permit issued by BPOM after evaluation of safety, quality and nutrition aspects of the product including production process and label.
"BPOM will continue to monitor the progress of this issue and take legal action if it is found to violate the laws and regulations," she said.
Drug candy was busy in the news as the incidence of toddlers who experience anxiety and unable to sleep after eating candy.
After examination of the following toddler's urine and his mother, positive drug substances found. The mother confessed not consumes drugs but candy.
