People around Mount Merapi are encouraged to stay calm

Magelang - Regional Disaster Management Agency of Magelang Regency, Central Java, appealed to people around Mount Merapi to remain calm following the phreatic eruption in the volcano.
Head of Emergency Agency BPBD Magelang District Didik Wahyu Nugroho in Magelang, Friday (11/05/2018) said at around 07:40 pm there was a phreatic eruption at Mount Merapi that caused ash rain around Merapi.
"Based on the information from the residents, there was a rumble and some time later the ash rain occurred, but we urge the residents to remain calm because the condition is normal again," he said.
He said the team BPBD Magelang District directly to the field to calm the community.
"There are three teams BPBD Magelang District plunge in three districts, namely Srumbung, Dukun, and Sawangan which is a danger zone of Merapi," he said.
He said some people are already crowded at the gathering point and it is trying to explain to them to stay calm
Officials observation post Mount Merapi Yulianto as reported by Antara confirmed the phreatic eruption that occurred at around 07:40 pm.
