"We have seen the implementation of this project, the Palapa Ring development project is 1,700 kilometers deep in the sea, it can be done quickly and completed by the end of 2018," said Minister of Communication and Information.
The MoCI would like to thank the Governor of North Sulawesi who strongly supports the implementation of this project, and asked to be facilitated in order to accelerate all permits related to the project so that the results of this project can be enjoyed by the people of North Sulawesi.
Known Palapa Ring is a telecommunication infrastructure project in the form of optical fiber development throughout Indonesia including the 3,600 kilometer (3,600 km) Sulut that will reach 440 districts / cities all over Indonesia.
The construction of the Palapa Ring into three work packages, namely the Palapa Ring west, east, and middle in the districts / cities are not economically feasible and not a commercial development area. The largest Palapa Ring project is in Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Maluku to Sangihe Regency with a total fiber optic cable length of approximately 2,995 kilometers.
"This will reach 27 districts / cities. The progress of this project development has reached 77.49 percent and entered the stage of submarine optical cable deployment in Minahasa District.
In this visit, Menkominfo Rudiantara accompanied by North Sulawesi Governor Olly Dondokambey with Sekprov Edwin Silangen.
The review was conducted in Tateli Village using Nusantara Explore Boats.
Governor Olly Dondokambey said that the Palapa Ring Project package could get good response from the district and municipal governments that are part of the project, so that the cooperation between the central government and all communities targeted by the Ministry of Communications and Informatics can run well.
"Citizens in the border region are looking to get special attention from the central government, especially the Ministry of Communications and Informatics so that we can follow the rapid development of informatics technology," he said.
The governor hopes that with access to better informatics technology can encourage the tourism sector in North Sulawesi, especially Minahasa.
