Bamsoet: PKPU Promulgated Must Be Obeyed

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Speaker of the House of Representatives Bambang Soesatyo assess the Election Commission Regulation (PKPU) Number 20 of 2018 which prohibits ex-prisoners of corruption advanced in the 2019 election that has been enacted the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights must be obeyed.
"If the government in this case the Minister of Justice and Human Rights has enacted PKPU, all must obey," said Bambang Soesatyo (Bamsoet) at Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Wednesday (4/7/2018)
Bambang admitted to getting information that there is still room for ex-corruption inmates to advance in the election. However, he will check the rules because they have not read in detail.
He said that he would communicate with the House of Representatives Commission II and meet with the Minister of Justice and Human Rights, KPU, Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu), and Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) on Thursday (5/7) to discuss it.
"How the formal attitude and agreement will be delivered tomorrow together so as not to cause uncertainty and cause legal certainty," he said.
He wants to see if there is still room for corrupt ex-corruption to go forward if the person makes the integrity pact, including announcing his mistake.
Bambang, who is also a politician of Golkar Party, admitted that he did not know the meeting tomorrow will be focused on what issues because not yet know the dynamics and developments that occur.
"We will see tomorrow whether the integrity pact applies to the person who has already served the sentence and has redeemed his guilt, made the integrity pact as well, then ran in accordance with the rules, he must announce his status of having served his case to the public," he said.
For the internal Golkar, Bambang claimed not to know exactly whether the cadres who had served the sentence was still interested to run for the new collection of names and names are not all collected.
Previously, the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) officially signed the KPU Regulation No. 20/2018 on the nomination of members of the DPR, Provincial DPRD and Regency / City DPRD on Wednesday (4/7).
PKPU Number 20 of 2018 is already included in the State Gazette of the Republic of Indonesia with Number 834, 2018 signed by Kemenkumham.
Article 4 Paragraph (3) Chapter II Part One of the General regulates the prohibition of former inmates into candidates.
Article 4 Paragraph (3) states that in the selection of candidates democratically and openly referred to in Paragraph (2), (political parties) does not include ex-convicted drug traffickers, sexual crimes against children, and corruption.
