INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - PT Indofood Sukses Makmur Tbk (INDF) booked net sales of Rp36 trillion in January-June 2018, growing 1% compared to net realization of sales in June 2017 of Rp35.65 trillion.

"The net sales growth sustained a 2.1% increase in the company's operating profit to Rp4.54 trillion as of June 2018 compared to the same period in 2017 of Rp4.45 trillion," said Anthoni Salim, INDF's President Director and CEO, in Jakarta, Tuesday (31/07/2018).

Anthoni said that the company's operating profit margin in the first six months of this year increased to 12.6% compared to the actual operating profit in the same period in 2017 of 12.5%.

However, Anthoni said the company's net profit attributable to owners of the parent company fell 12.7% to Rp1.96 trillion as of June 2018 compared to Rp2.24 trillion in June 2017. As a result, its net margin declined to 5.6% from 6.3%.

"Despite the lackluster performance of the Agribusiness Group, we are pleased that Indofood can still achieve sales growth. In the second quarter of this 2918, the growth of FMCG industry (Fast Moving Consumer Goods-red) shows the improvements supported by sales during Hari Raya, so as to sustain the performance of consumer branded products (CBP), "Anthoni said.

Nevertheless, Anthoni believes the company's business growth until the end of this year is expected to remain positive. However, INDF management remains wary of the volatility of commodity prices and foreign exchange rates against the rupiah. (Abraham Sihombing)
