INDUSTRY.co.id - Citrus farmers in Karo Regency welcomed the development of seedless honey siam oranges assembled by the Agricultural Research and Development Agency (Balitbangtan). Even these seedless oranges are referred to as commodities that have been eagerly awaited by farmers.
This was stated by Sadra Sembiring, one of the farmers who was developing seedless honeycomb oranges in Kubu Colia Village, Dolat Rakyat District, Karo Regency, North Sumatra. According to Sadra, seedless oranges can satisfy people's interest in oranges.
This seedless honey siam is a commodity that we expected. "For oranges with seeds, the market is now good, especially without seeds like this, people are interested," Sadra said.
Sadra added, the development of seedless oranges could provide good opportunities for farmers and entrepreneurs. Public interest in oranges is very high, with the presence of seeds without honey, hopefully the business opportunities here are also growing, he said.
At present the oranges that are developed in the Kubu Colia Village have entered the third connection stage or the final connection, and it takes about two years to get the results. The oranges that we have _top working_ are around a year old, so it takes about another year to produce fruit, Sadra said.
Previously, Biogen BB researcher Dr. Mia Kosmiatin mentioned the development of seedless honey orange (_seedless) was an attempt to improve the quality and amount of citrus oranges.
Mia also hopes that this orange will soon be registered, then multiplied and distributed so that it can increase farmers' income, the quality of the community's nutrition while reducing import figures.
