INDUSTRY.co.id - Surabaya - The management of PT Semen Indonesia Tbk (SMGR) targets cement exports of 3 million tons to be worth a total of Rp4.44 trillion by the end of this year. In January-August 2018, the company exported 1.99 million tons of cement, or 42.7% higher than the same period in 2017 of 1.39 million tons.

"That means, throughout the first 8 months of this year, the company has realized 66.33% of the full-year export target," said Adi Munandir, Director of Marketing & Supply Chain at SMGR, at the Investor Summit at the Indonesia Stock Exchange Building (BEI) Surabaya. East Java, Wednesday (09/19/2018).

Adi said, the success of achieving export sales from January to August 2018 above proved that the quality of the products produced by the cement company was internationally recognized and highly competitive.

The company's cement and clinker export destinations are Sri Lanka, Tahiti, East Timor, Tonga, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, the Philippines, China. In addition, the company also exports to Australia, Austria, Maldives, India and Bangladesh.

"The company will continue to encourage exports to strengthen the rupiah exchange rate against the US Dollar and to boost domestic utilization. The reason is that the domestic cement industry is currently experiencing a 40% excess supply. That has caused trade competition to be very tight, "Adi said.

Therefore, Adi said, to increase sales in the export market, the company will strengthen its export network in various export destination countries and explore other countries and actively participate in trade mission activities. (Abraham Sihombing)
