INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - PT Semen Baturaja (Persero) Tbk. (SMBR) launched two new products, namely Type II and Type V cement as an effort to realize the vision of diversifying cement products.
"The launch of a new product was carried out as one of SMBR's steps to realize its vision not just to become a cement producer. But it can be a company that provides cement-based building materials, "said President Director of SMBR Rahmad Pribadi through his statement received in Jakarta, Monday (09/24/2018)
According to him, these two products have obtained certification and meet the quality requirements of the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 2049: 2015.
He said the increasingly diverse infrastructure development will be an opportunity for the cement industry to develop product variants that are deliberately designed for different characters and uses.
"Like cement for the manufacture of dams and swamp land," he said.
In the future, Rahmad said that SMBR would also launch more innovative products and would develop the business towards downstream industries such as the manufacture of mortar, precast, light brick and fiber cement board.
Through the launch of Type II & Type V cement products, Rahmad said, the company wanted to show its ability to provide cement products that not only compete in terms of quality and continuity.
SMBR also wants to show its ability to provide the best service, which does not only offer products but also a solution for customer construction needs.
Rahmad added Jambi is a region in Sumatra that has tremendous potential to be continuously developed and SMBR according to him detects that development.
"So of course as a State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN) we feel called to take part," he said.
Rahmad said that cement consumption growth in Sumatra currently reaches 5-8 percent. However, the sale of Baturaja Cement according to Rahmad was able to reach 12 percent. Based on that growth data, Rahmad is optimistic if SMBR has a huge opportunity to continue to dominate market share in Southern Sumatra, especially Jambi.
He added, SMBR is currently carrying out various development projects for production development, including distribution networks in Jambi.
Rahmad said that the BUMN he led since the end of April 2017 was consistent and focused on meeting the demand for cement in southern and central Sumatra.
Looking ahead, SMBR is believed to be in control of the market in southern and central Sumatra.
"We have a target to be a market leader in Sumatra, even in Indonesia," he said.
