INDUSTRY.co.id - Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia has stated that the implementation of the Gotong Royong COVID-19 vaccination carried out by the Government and the business sector will speed up the country’s vaccination drive as well as restore public trust and global opinion in handling the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Minister made the statement before accompanying President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo to inspect first-phase implementation of Gotong Royong vaccination for employees at a factory belonging to the PT Unilever Indonesia, Jababeka Industrial Estate, Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, West Java, Tuesday (18/5).
“We all take this responsibility. If the vaccination reaches maximum target, we hope it can restore public trust and global opinion on how Indonesia handles the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.
According to him, the implementation of Gotong Royong vaccination will boost the confidence of business players and investors. The investment and consumption are two vital components in boosting national economic growth, he added.
“Through this vaccination, investors and business players will be more confident in carrying out a thorough planning and investment realization, which is expected to create more employment opportunities. The investment actually aims to create new jobs and increase state income since it is our responsibility,” Bahlil said.
On that occasion, the Minister also expressed appreciation to the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) and the business sector for implementing the Gotong Royong vaccination program as part of a joint effort to tackle the pandemic in the country.
“I really thank Kadin and the business sector for conducting Gotong Royong vaccination. I hope this momentum will bring a positive impact for Indonesia and international communities in seeing how we resolve and deal with COVID-19 in our country,” he remarked.
