INDUSTRY.co.id - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment as well as Deputy Chairperson of the Committee for COVID-19 Handling and National Economic Recovery (KPCPEN) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan reported a decrease in community mobility in the first week of Java-Bali Emergency Public Activity Restriction (PPKM Darurat).
“We have monitored the implementation of Emergency PPKM through mobility indicators and community activities using Google Traffic and Facebook Mobility as well as the night light index. The results from 3 to 10 July show that all Java-Bali provinces had shown a 10 to 15 percent decrease in community mobility and activity,” Luhut said in a virtual press conference after a limited meeting on COVID-19 handling, Wednesday (12/7).
However, the Coordinating Minister said, in order to flatten the COVID-19 transmission curve, efforts to make the mobility index component falls above 30 percent are vital.
“We see that the implementation in the field is getting better and we hope that in the next week the mobility of community activities will also decrease according to our expectations,” he added.
On the occasion, Luhut said, the numbers of confirmed cases in the last three days have reached the range of 33,000-38,000. However, the recovery rate has also increased significantly. Through efforts to suppress community mobility and activities, Luhut expressed hope that the transmission curve can be flattened and the pandemic can be controlled.
“We also hope that due to our discipline, ongoing vaccine programs and health protocols, a combination of all of these, our compliance with Emergency PPKM will improve,” he said.
