Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Will Provide Additional Geothermal Working Areas At PLN

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) will provide additional Geothermal Working Area assignment to PT PLN (Persero).
Director of Geothermal of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Yunus Saefulhak revealed that the government is currently processing eight additional WKP to PLN. But the government will prioritize four WKP first. The assignment is targeted to be completed before the turn of the year.
"Now the official that has been held by PLN is six. Want to file again that four. Then four more. So a total of 14 WKP," said Yunus at the Coordinating Office of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Friday (15/09/2017).
Currently the certainty of the assignment is still waiting for the issuance of Decree (SK) from the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Ignasius Jonan. "This one is waiting for SK. Again the process cannot be ascertained when it is finished, but we target the four first optimistic this year," said Yunus
Previously, the Government has given six WKP pm to PLN. The company has also signed a partnership with PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (Persero) to finance the project which is valued at US $ 640 million.
Six WKP Assignments for PLN, including WKP Ulumbu in Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara with a potential of 40 megawatts (MW); WKP Mataloko in Ngada District, East Nusa Tenggara with potential of 20 MW; WKP Tulehu in Central Maluku District, Maluku) with potential of 60 MW; WKP Tangkuban Perahu-Ciater in Subang Regency (West Java) with potential of 60 MW; WKP Atadei in Lembata District (East Nusa Tenggara) with potential of 10 MW; and WKP Songa Wayaua in South Halmahera Regency (North Maluku) with potential of 10 MW.
Yunus said for the eight additional WKP which is estimated to have a total capacity of 1,000 MW, has not been determined scheme of his opinion. PLN must prepare a work program in each field to submit a proposal of cooperation with funding agencies.
"PLN will be able to cooperate with green fund. Green technology fund, World Bank, all kinds, to get softloan " said Yunus
