INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - A digital life insurance company, PT FWD Life Indonesia (FWD Life), announced the winner of the 2017 FWD HACKATHON competition that has created a navigation technology system to find the nearest hospital and insurance agent using augmented reality.

The five-member PAPUA team was selected to be the best team among the 11 other teams that entered the final stage on 22 - 24 September 2017.

FWD HACKATHON 2017 event which opened from August to September 2017 is the first technological innovation competition organized by the insurance company and successfully embraced 286 registrants from the younger generation in various regions in Indonesia which presents dozens of ideas of digital technology innovation.

After going through the selection process, FWD Life and Founder Institute Jakarta finally chose about 12 ideas of digital technology innovation to be developed deeper for 3 days at FWD Hackathon 2017 with total participants 108 people.

Vice President Director of FWD Life, Rudi Kamdani explains FWD HACKATHON 2017 is one of FWD Life's strategies to embrace more young generation to participate in exploring creativity in generating innovation in the world of insurance based on digital technology.

"I represent FWD Life to give the highest appreciation to all participants who have participated in FWD HACKATON 2017 competition. This event is a testament to the creative power of the young generation to create innovative technology works and have economic impact, especially to help increase the penetration of insurance in Indonesia," said Rudi in Jakarta (24/09/2017).

In addition to the PAPUA team, FWD Life and Founder Institute Jakarta set two champions of hope namely LIFE and EVA. The LIFE team develops educational apps for children using games. As for EVA develop Chatbot to facilitate the process of insurance ranging from product information to claims.

Rudi added that the ideas born from the creativity of all participants FWD HACKATHON 2017 is very diverse, ranging from the idea of ​​innovation transformation insurance business on the aspects of underwriting, risk management to claims making it possible to create an insurance experience that is easier, faster and comfortable.

PAPUA team gets the main prize of cash of Rp 100 million as capital in realizing the idea of ​​becoming a sustainable business. In addition to cash, they also had the opportunity to join the Founder Institute accelerator program as well as the opportunity to learn to grow business to Silicon Valley. While the champion hope to get a cash prize of Rp 10 million each.

Director of Founder Institute Jakarta Andy Zain said the technology work that was born proves FWD Hackathon 2017 is the right event in developing innovation and new breakthrough in the field of technology, especially in the insurance industry.

"Through the Founder Institute accelerator program, PAPUA team innovation will be re-developed into a navigation system that has real benefits for innovative Insurance process for FWD Life," he explained.

Andy also added to provide more added values for the winner, FWD Life will provide an opportunity for a team representative to fly to Silicon Valley to get business development training.
