Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Hopes BSSN Inaugurated this Month

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto hopes that the State Siber and Codes of State (BSSN) can be inaugurated in October 2017, since all the discussion on the organizational structure and its main tasks has been completed.

"This month's BSSN will be inaugurated. Finally, it has been completed the discussion about the organization, about the main tasks, about the implementation of it.Everything is, only it has not been inaugurated, hopefully this month," said Wiranto after providing briefing in Consolidation of Nationality Insight Program and National Resilience of Government Apparatus and Territorial Apparatus Area, in Jakarta, Wednesday (18/10/2017)

BSSN will be a government agency that oversees and coordinates national cyber security activities. One of the reasons for BSSN's immediate buildup is the emergence of false news or "hoaxes" that are increasingly crowded these days.

"Finally we are busy with the problem of 'hoax', which has been approved by the President (Joko Widodo) in a limited meeting to set up BSSN in order to protect and protect the existing cyber security, whether it concerns intelligence cadres from BIN, from TNI or from banking and so on," he explained.

The establishment of the BSSN as well as a command of the cyber regulatory task force belonging to various state institutions that have been running each and overlap each other.

In accordance with Presidential Regulation no. 53/2017 on BSSN, the non-ministry agency is responsible to the President through the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs.

The BSSN will be headed by a Chief with a Main Secretariat and four deputies. Head of BSSN was appointed and dismissed by the President on the proposal of Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs.

The State Code Institute and the Information Security Directorate of the Ministry of Communications and Informatics and ID SIRTII are merged into the BSSN.
