INDUSTRY.co.id - Subang - PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ) with perhutani and Subang Regency Government has inaugurated the Greenthink Forest Ship Forest in Cilamaya Girang Village.
Hutan Kehati Greenthink Forest is a 2.5 hectare area owned by Perhutani that is transformed into environmental conservation area and economic empowerment by Cilamaya Girang community with PHE ONWJ assistance.
Since 2011, PHE ONWJ with local community consisting of Kwartir Ranting (Kwaran) Pramuka Blanakan District, Cilamaya Girang Village Government took the initiative to exploit Perhutani area in that location. By the community, the area has been cultivated into rice fields by residents who later due to lack of knowledge about the processing of land causes the land is less productive.
"PHE ONWJ together with the community wants to make the location as the center of environmental education for students and community and adaptation mitigation efforts to climate change," said General Manager of PHE ONWJ Siswantoro M. Prasodjo in an official statement on Thursday (26/10/2017).
Managed by Greenthink Farmer Group, 2.5 hectares Greenthink Forest Vessel Forest adopts integrated farming system or Integrated Farming System concept to revitalize the village community.
Farming components in this model include cultivation of tilapia srikandi, laying duck cultivation, sheep fattening business, productive crop cultivation, family medicinal plants and mushroom cultivation. The community is also taught to utilize livestock waste to become fertilizer.
"With this Integrated Farming System, the retired fishermen who are not able to go to sea will again have a source of income," said Farmers Group Chairman Greenthink Arruji Kartawinata.
This effort has also expanded to reach out to women wife wives business to make food products from farm produce.
