Ignasius Jonan: Kendaraan Listrik Harus Bisa Maju untuk Generasi Masa Depan
INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Ignatius Jonan continues to push the electric vehicle program, according to the direction of President Joko Widodo that Indonesia should immediately adopt the presence of electric vehicles.
This electric vehicle program must be able to advance for future generations, for better environment, energy independence, and savings of foreign exchange.
Jonan started this transformation effort by buying one electric motor made in Viar, Viar Q1.
The story of purchasing an electric motor is quite unique. Beginning when Jonan met with one of his staff when Jonan became President Director of PT Kereta Api Indonesia, last weekend.
The staff came by using electric motors made by Viar and Jonan immediately interested to try it. But unfortunately, because of the rain, Jonan cannot try the motor. Still curious, Jonan then contacted the staff to meet again on Saturday night, and immediately tried it.
No long wait, Jonan immediately decided to buy a motor unit Viar Q1 to give to his daughter, Monica Jonan. The next day, Sunday (29/10/2017) morning, electric motor capable of speeding up to 60 km per hour with a distance of about 70 km, arrived at the residence of Minister Jonan. Electric motors are purchased at a price of Rp. 16.7 million.
As known on Thursday (10/19/2017), Jonan has also received a team of motorcycle producers "Gesits" in the Office of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. At the meeting, Jonan had the opportunity to try Garansindo's electric motor and the Ten November Institute of Technology (ITS).
After driving "Gesits", Jonan said that the emission issued by the motor is very low. "There is no engine, there is only the battery and transmission system, so the treatment is also very cheap," he added.
Jonan also conveyed to the electric motor manufacturers to later sell their products to the community at a competitive price. "I suggest if it is mass produced later, if the selling price can compete with the motor that uses fuel oil," he said.
To encourage the utilization of electric vehicles, at the end of August, Jonan has partnered with stakeholders to contribute suggestions related to the Presidential Decree on the Electric Motor Vehicle Acceleration Program for Road Transportation.
"Mr. President also asked if it can be quickly completed and encouraged at least complete the rules first," he said.
In a meeting attended by business actors, associations, observers, and relevant Ministries, Jonan also said that he would propose to the President to implement a ban on the sale of diesel and gasoline engines by 2040.
