INDUSTRY co.id - Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) noted that the number of domestic air transport passengers disbursed in May 2017 was 7.2 million people, up 2.47 percent compared to April 2017. Meanwhile, the number of international destinations fell 3.83 percent To 1.3 million people.
"During January-May 2017, the number of domestic passengers reached 34.6 million people, up 9.84 percent and the number of international passengers reached 6.7 million people, up 13.33 percent compared to the same period in 2016," said K. Suhariyanto , Head of BPS, in his statement.
The increase in the number of passengers, according to Suhariyanto, occurred at Hasanudin Airport, Makassar, at 5.56 percent; Ngurah Rai Denpasar 4.95 percent, Juanda Surabaya 0.54 percent, and Soekarno Hatta Jakarta 0.17 percent.
Overall, according to the Head of BPS, the number of domestic air transport passengers in January-May 2017 was 34.6 million people, up 9.84 percent compared to the same period last year of 31.5 million people.
"The largest number of passengers recorded in Soekarno Hatta Jakarta reached 8.5 million people or 24.74 percent of the total domestic passengers, followed by Juanda Airport Surabaya 3.1 million people or 8.87 percent," explained Suhariyanto.
Regarding international flights, Head of BPS K. Suhariyanto said, the number of air freight passengers abroad in May 2017 recorded as many as 1.3 million people or down 3.83 percent compared to April 2017.
"The largest number of international passengers occurred at Soekarno Hatta Airport Jakarta for 591.4 thousand people or 44.07 percent of total passengers abroad, followed by Ngurah Rai Airport Bali as many as 471.6 thousand people or 35.14 percent," said Suhariyanto
