INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta, PT ABM Investama, a coal industry company, intends to target China as a highly prospective market for coal industry in Indonesia.

"Currently in China building a lot of coal energy resources, China will increase its coal needs at this time," said Director of Finance ABM Investama, Adrian Erlangga found in Jakarta, Friday (07/07/2017).

He added that the percentage of coal demand for energy supply will decline by 55 percent in the next 10 years. But in real terms, the world's energy needs continue to increase.

In addition, the need for coal in some countries in Southeast Asia has a tendency to improve. Imports became one of the decisions that these countries must take. "Southeast Asia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, so it needs extraordinary coal, plus India which will increase the capacity of coal imports in the country," he said.

According to him, Indonesian coal industry players can enter the market in the country. "India will increase imports of 40 million tons of coal," he added.

On the other hand, domestic demand for coal is still high, supported by the 35 thousand mega watt electricity program by the government. The increase in coal demand is projected to increase 2-fold.

"Domestic coal needs around 80 million tons per year, so up to 10 years will require 160-170 million tons," he concluded.
