INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - International Law Professor of University of Indonesia Hikmahanto Juwana said US President Donald Trump lost legitimacy because the UN General Assembly finally adopted a resolution condemning the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
"The UN General Assembly has voiced US President Donald Trump's announcement, and Trump also lost the legitimacy of the announcement to move its Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem," Hikmahanto Juwana said in Jakarta on Friday (22/12/2017)
In fact, he continued, Trump has brought the US as a champion of democracy into an authoritarian state with efforts to threaten the countries in the UN to not approve the UN MU resolution.
The US leadership of the world will continue to be questioned, even to be scorned by the world.
The majority of the world's countries are no longer afraid of US threats. No longer is the term Strong is True (Might is Right) because the world is able to oppose the will of Trump utilizing his presidency.
Today the world needs to formulate what further action will be taken on the US and Israel post-UN General Assembly resolution. There are two possible actions.
First, various leaders and world leaders are calling for the United States to submit to the UN UMHM Assembly Resolution because of the majority of the world.
As a champion of democracy it is only natural that the US wants to hear a majority.
Second, on the basis of world peace leaders and world leaders appealed to US politicians, including former US Presidents to remind Trump of the influence of UN General Assembly Resolution on US leadership in the world.
"It is time for US citizens, politicians and US elites to speak up and take constitutional action against Donald Trump so that the US does not fall deeper into maneuvers." His maneuvers are not making America Great Again but Make America Worst," he said.
The UN General Assembly finally adopted a resolution condemning the recognition of US President Donald Trump that Jerusalem was the capital of Israel.
The resolution was passed with an absolute majority vote with only nine states rejected, including the United States and Israel.
In Thursday's New York voting, 128 countries voted in favor of the resolution, nine opposed, and 35 countries voted to abstain. (Ant)
