INDUSTRY.co.id - Jalarta - Badan Amil Zakat Nasional (BAZNAS) sends medical personnel and logistic support to overcome the Measles and Malnutrition Outbreaks in Nakai Village, Pulau Tiga District and Agats City, Papua Province.
This step is a further effort in responding quickly to the health crisis in eastern Indonesia.
Previously BAZNAS has established Crisis Center to respond to various complaints that occur in the community and has designed a simultaneous program in responding to disaster in Asmat.
Attending the event were Deputy BAZNAS, Arifin Purwakananta, Ir. Nana Mintarti and Mohammad Nasir Tajang and Head of Healthy House BAZNAS Indonesia, Dr. Meizi Fachrizal Achmad, M.Si.
Chairman of Crisis Center BAZNAS, Dr. Meizi Fachrizal Achmad, M.Si said, his team tonight will depart to Asmat to immediately move to help the community in need of help.
BAZNAS tonight will send a pioneering team that plans to be in Asmat for two weeks. The team consists of two health workers and two humanitarian team personnel. After that BAZNAS will send a follow-up team that will stay for 6 months," said Fachry who also served as Head of Healthy House BAZNAS Indonesia.
He said the teams that will be dispatched is expected to perform optimal activities in the region.
Member of BAZNAS, Ir. Nana Mintarti said that BAZNAS will release programs that have emergency relief or response and recovery or long-term nature and also educate health related to the Asmat community.
To handle the incidence of Malnutrition and Measles disease in Asmat district, Baznas will release programs that have emergency relief and recovery properties. The nature of this emergency relief or response, BAZNAS will dispatch medical teams to coordinate with local stakeholders to jointly address or deal with the extraordinary events occurring today in Asmat.
The nature of recovery or long term will have the nature of community health so community-based health because in fact these factors are a matter of habit, education, insight problem or knowledge of society about health.
"This is what will be educated by BAZNAS while we will also provide nutritious foods especially in toddlers and toddlers so hopefully the nutritional level of the toddler will also improve," he told the media crew.
Pioneer teams are in charge of early detection of measles and malnutrition suffered by children in Asmat.
Furthermore, prevention of transmission will be done as well as the initial acute disease. If indeed there are conditions that require to get a referral, then the team will conduct further referrals for more serious handling.
For advanced teams, it will be divided into four sections. This team will take care of the BAZNAS programs that have been designed to be simultaneous programs in disaster response in Asmat. These programs consist of the medical section, the Papuan health care program, the food aid program and the food barn and other support programs.
Mohammad Nasir Tajang said that BAZNAS went directly to handle the problem because the sorrow of our brothers in Asmat should be a sorrow for the whole of Indonesia.
"BAZNAS plunge to handle the problem because BAZNAS sees that this is Indonesia's grief as well. So, BAZNAS strives to be there and will actually attend and assist in Asmat until this problem is over.
"For the first phase we are scheduled for 6 months for the team to be there. Our early stage we will do the assessment and we will also educate the residents there the importance of health. Expected we plan to build a food barn there. Therefore the problems there, BAZNAS hope not to happen again," said Nasir as Director of Coordination of Distribution, Utility, and Renewal of National Training of BAZNAS.
