Subsidiary of PGN Electric Supplies 5 MW to Tanjung Balai Karimun Island

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk or PGN through its subsidiary PT Widar Mandripa Nusantara (Widar) again made a new achievement by supplying electricity of 5 megawatts (MW) to the island of Tanjung Balai Karimun, Riau Islands.
"The electricity supply will be used in the Zona II free trade zone of Tanjung Balai Karimun.This achievement is a partnership between Widar and PT Karimun Power Plant (KPP) as the holder of electricity business in the region and the realization of our commitment to continue to spread the energy well throughout region," said Widar President Director, Rizal Wibisono to the press in Jakarta, Thursday (18/1/2018).
Rizal said the distribution of electricity by 5 MW will be done in stages according to stun needs in the region. "Currently, the majority of electricity users in the region is the industrial sector," said Rizal.
Rizal said the presence of additional electric power from Widar to benefit the industry in Tanjung Balai Karimun. During this time, the electricity needs for the industry are mostly still supplied using industrial diesel generators respectively.
"With the availability of electricity supplied by Widar through the KPP is also helping the local industry to make energy efficiency," he said.
The energy efficiency is done by using natural gas-fired power plant prepared by Widar supported by PT Energi Powerindo Jaya (EPJ). PT EPJ is working with PT VPower Operation Services (VPOS).
Rizal added that the gas supply comes from PT Gagas Energi Indonesia (Gagas), a subsidiary of PT PGN and PT Environment Technology International (ETI). The shape is Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).
"This synergy is expected to continue so that one of PGN's commitments, both directly and through its subsidiaries in channeling energy well into Indonesia," said Rizal.
