KPU Emphasizes Campaign to Become a Vision-Mission Event

INDUSTRY.co.id - Bandung - The General Elections Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia emphasizes to political parties that the campaign process is a venue for the delivery of vision, mission and program.
This was conveyed by the Chairman of KPU RI Arief Budiman, responding to a protest from one political party that opposed the policy of ban on the installation of national figures in campaign props.
"The campaign is delivering the vision, mission, and the program so it has nothing to do with it," said Arief after holding a meeting with the " KPU Jabar and KPU Garut in Bandung, Tuesday (27/2/2018).
According to Arief, the ban is quite reasonable, the article stated in the KPU Regulation (PKPU) No. 4 of 2017 concerning the Election Campaign of Governor and Deputy Governor, Regent and Deputy Regent, or Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
In addition, national figures have nothing to do in the current prospective campaign process. Thus, he requested that the Political Parties prioritize the delivery of vision, mission, and program.

With this ban, the KPU wants to design that the process of campaign stage is political education for the community. This is intended to enable voters to know about the priority programs of regional head candidates.
If the Political Parties are found to be violating the prevailing provisions, the KPU has prepared a number of sanctions ranging from mild to severe categories.
"There are provisions, various sanctions warned, discontinued campaigns, no campaigns, to the point where there is a criminal element, massive violations can be disqualified," he said.
