INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Agriculture Minister Amran Sulaiman says modern agriculture is key to Indonesia's agricultural competitiveness.
"In essence, we change the paradigm of traditional agriculture to modern agriculture, and then we can only compete with other countries," said Amran met the media crew in Jakarta on Friday (16/3/2018).
According to Amran, the Ministry of Agriculture has improved the mechanization technology of agriculture by 2000 percent to increase agricultural productivity of Indonesia.
In addition, the ministry also continues to provide assistance to farmers working with academics and students in applying agricultural science directly in the community.
Amran also commissioned the assistants from the Center for Agricultural Technology Assessment (BPTP) to educate farmers in the fields and plantations.
"Because our country is fertile, our country is big and our country 'agro climate' is different from Sabang to Merauke There is a dry season, then here it can rain. That's great in Indonesia, comparative advantage should be encouraged and indeed we do not stop educating," Amran.
In addition to agriculture related land, Amran said the ministry seeks to build land for increased productivity such as swamp land and rain fed land.
Amran also said the ministry prohibits the conversion of rice fields into industrial land on fertile lands.
