RI-Singapore Increases Cooperation on Counter-Terrorism

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - The Indonesian Government through the National Agency for Combating Terrorism (BNPT) will increase cooperation with the Government of Singapore in countering terrorism.
The effort to improve the cooperation was discussed in a meeting between BNPT Head of Komjen Pol Suhardi Alius and Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and Singapore Deputy Minister of Education Lai Chung Han at BNPT Office, Jakarta, Monday (9/4/2018).
"The Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, who also serves as Singapore's Deputy Minister of Education, has come here to improve counterterrorism cooperation especially on issues related to the Ministry of Home Affairs and also the Ministry of Education of Singapore," said the Head of BNPT quoted from the press release.
According to the former Kabareskrim Polri, the Singaporeans want to learn about matters relating to education that can affect radicalism.
The Singaporeans also appreciated the deradicalization program run by BNPT and wanted to imitate even though the population and acts of terror in Singapore were small.
Meanwhile Wamendagri / Wamendik Singapore Lai Chung Han said his arrival met the Head of BNPT to further affirm the cooperation between Singapore and Indonesia in countering terrorism.
In addition, he personally also gives appreciation to the Head of BNPT for the efforts that have been implemented in countering terrorism.
"This year Singapore is the leader of ASEAN so that cooperation with BNPT is very important especially in countering terrorism to improve capability and ability of all countries in ASEAN in order to imitate the ability of Indonesia," he said, the threat of terrorism still exists even in the Philippines and the Middle East done.
"And we have to stay vigilant," said the former head of the then-ranking Admiral of the young admiral of the Singapore Navy.
During the meeting, the Head of BNPT was accompanied by Deputy III for International Cooperation of Inspector General Pol Hamidin, Bilateral Director Brig. Gen. Kris Erlangga Aji Wijaya, Regional and Multilateral Director Andhika Chrisnayudhanto, and Head of Sub-Division of European Cooperation Wandi Adrianto Syamsu while Lai Chung Han was accompanied by his staff, Nicholas Liem and Sean Lee.
