Bomb Terror in Surabaya, BEI Boss: We are Concerned!

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta, Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) expressed deep concern and sorrow to the victims and families for the terror attacks that occurred in 3 Church locations in Surabaya on Sunday (13/5).
IDX with the Indonesian Clearing Guarantee Corporation (KPEI) and Kustodian Sentral Efek Indonesia (KSEI) expressed deep concern over recent terror events including terror attacks that occurred in 3 Church locations in Surabaya on Sunday (13/5) which claimed the victims soul and injured.
We are very concerned about this incident, said Director of BEI, Tito Sulistio to INDUSTRY.co.id editor in Jakarta, Sunday (13/5).
President Director of BEI appealed to all market participants to remain calm and move normally.
The experience of the terrorist bombing of Thamrin on January 14, 2016, indicates that the terror has no major effect on capital market activity.
At the time of the terror, the Composite Stock Price Index (CSPI) had corrected as much as 77.86 points or 1.72 percent at 4,459.32 points.
But JCI correction is only a momentary reaction or temporary because at the close of trading session II on the same day, JCI closed only 0.53 percent thin and the next day rose 0.24 percent.
Investors in the capital market are not affected by the terror movement that occurs.
Tito believes that the Surabaya bombing terror will also have no significant effect on capital market activity.
Fundamentally the Listed Company incorporated in LQ45 shows solid performance with average revenue increased by 15.96 percent and net profit increased 11.68 percent in 1st quarter 2018 compared to 1st quarter of 2017.
While market conditions were also quite stable, indicated by high transaction liquidity with average daily transactions of Rp 8.87 trillion (an increase of 16.7 percent compared to 2017) and daily frequency of 387 thousand (an increase of 23.7 percent compared to 2017) .
President Director of BEI appealed to investors and all capital market participants not to overreact and remain optimistic about the stability of national security.
"As a form of concern and resilience to the tragedy in Surabaya we ask all SROs and subsidiaries within 3 days from Monday (14/5) to Wednesday (16/5) to wear white clothes with black ribbon on the right arm and also appeal Listed Company and Exchange Members to do the same thing that is wearing white clothes with black ribbon as a form of ketegaran, "said Tito.
