INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta, PT Holcim Indonesia Tbk announced the company's financial performance in the first quarter of 2018. Amidst pressure due to market competition, Holcim Indonesia was able to record net sales increase of 2% from Rp 2,158 billion in 2017 to Rp 2,201 billion in 2018.

The Indonesian Cement Association reported that cement sales growth in 2018 reached 6.6% compared to 2017 in the same period.

The increase in consumption in Sumatra and Kalimantan which reached 9% and 7% respectively also boosted demand for cement and helped to absorb excess supply, in addition to export efforts by cement businessmen.

Despite an increase in sales, Holcim posted a loss of Rp332 billion due to lower selling prices and higher energy costs compared to the same period last year.

Higher rainfall and reduced working hours as there are many holidays also contribute to lower achievements.

Responding to the first quarter results, President Director of PT Holcim Indonesia, Gary Schutz said the situation in the Indonesian market is still challenging in the first quarter of 2018. As a precaution, Holcim also performs cost efficiency and takes commercial transformation measures.

"Holcim is well positioned with a more integrated network and a more complete product line. We are also ready to serve the market and meet customer needs, from homeowners to infrastructure projects and high rise building projects," said Gary through his written statement in Jakarta, Monday (5/14/2018).

According to him, our commitment is to provide innovative and value added solutions for customers. This is what distinguishes us from competitors.

As is known, the Indonesian Cement Association has conveyed its attention to the government regulations on the import of cement and clinker that could affect the financial and business of cement companies in Indonesia.

While the Government continues its infrastructure projects, the developers also make it easy for homeowners to drive market growth through easy financing and mortgage programs. This reflects the form of cooperation to create opportunities for growth.

Renowned in innovation, Holcim Indonesia's quality of products and services gained the trust of the Government for the largest sports complex revitalization project in Indonesia, Gelora Bung Karno.

Holcim recently held a media gathering event with the Ministry of Public Housing and Public Works of the Republic of Indonesia, the PPKGBK Management and the Indonesian Architects Association (IAI) on the revitalization project of Gelora Bung Karno sports area to welcome the upcoming Asian Games.

Holcim was chosen because it has a porous concrete product ThruCrete and ColoCrete that can absorb water directly into the ground so it can be used on jogging tracks, parks and pedestrian paths in this area of GBK. Porous concrete is also able to prevent water puddles so it is very safe for runners.

"We are very proud to be part of Indonesia's history witness who hosted the Asian Games this year. Holcim's involvement is proof that we have the benefits needed by customers and society at large, "Gary concluded.
