City of Bekasi Generates 3,325 Ton of Rice

INDUSTRY.co.id - Bekasi - Agriculture Agency of Bekasi City, West Java, noted that rice fields in the local area produce 3,325 tons of rice harvested within a year.
"The rice produced in this harvest is sourced from 475 hectares of rice fields, although in the criteria of the metropolitan area with minimal open land, but in reality we are able to produce rice," said Head of Bekasi City Agriculture Agency, Momon Sulaeman, in Bekasi, Sunday (27 / 5/2018)
According to him, an average of 1 hectare of rice field in Bekasi City is able to produce 7 tons of rice, so that in one harvest can produce thousands of tons of rice.
"Our harvest is 3,325 tons, which is enough to cover the need for rice for the people of Bekasi," he said.
It is said Momon, the majority of the crop is sold to farmers to a number of middlemen from outside the region.
"Most of the rice stock for sale in Bekasi City is only 10 percent, the rest is sold out," he said.
It is said Momon, farmers in the city of Bekasi usually experience harvest as much as three times a year, but the situation depends on weather conditions or pest threats.
"Fortunately all the farmers in Bekasi City already have the technology of rice field farmers so that the supply of rice for Bekasi City area will be safe," he said.
It also often make efforts to assist farmer groups to ensure the sustainability of the harvest.
"We also routinely provide counseling to farmers with regard to quality crops," he said
