INDUSTRY.co.id - Karawang - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) reminded the clerics that Indonesia is the most Muslim country known for its unity and harmony.

"Indonesia has the largest Muslim population in the world, which we often forget, Indonesia has the largest population is appreciated by the world, because of its unity and harmony," said the president interrupted with religious scholars and community leaders at Pondok Pesantren Asshiddiqiyah III, Cilamaya Kulon, Karawang regency, West Java, on Wednesday (6/6/2018)

He admitted to feeling wonder because almost every year the momentum of democracy for the election of regent / mayor, the election of governor even to the presidential election, always a momentum to divide the unity of the nation.

"We have a population of 263 million people, there are 17 thousand islands, there are 714 tribes, this is the potential and wealth of the Indonesian people, the grace of Allah," he said.

But it is unfortunate that the blessings were split during the election of Regent / Mayor, Governor Election, even Presidential Election.

Democracy per year is often divisive, there is no mutual inter-village, and there is no contact, just because of different choices. It is considered harmful, because in fact the Indonesian people uphold unity and harmony.

According to him, democracy should remain a unifying nation, not a solver.

"Please choose anybody, choose the best good. Already that please get along again, every five years it's continued (the party of democracy)," he said.

According to Jokowi, the appreciation of Indonesian Muslim harmony is evident, when the President makes visits and bilateral cooperation with Middle East and South Asia countries.

He recounted, when the President made a visit to Saudi Arabia. He was surprised when King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud immediately picked him on the plane.

According Jokowi, it is an unusual thing. King Salman confessed if he really appreciates Indonesia, because the country that has the largest Muslim community in the world that so has unity.

The same is true when making a visit to the United Arab Emirates. At that time the UAE president, Sheikh Mohammed picked him up immediately and became Jokowi's driver to his palace.

"Do not let our nation be so valued on the outside, but break it in. The Muslim world in the world is very appreciative to us," he said. (Ant)
