INDUSTRY.co.id - Medan - North Sumatra governor candidate Djarot Saiful Hidayat signed a political contract with a women's caucus to give full attention to the protection of women.

The signing of the political contract was carried out after dialogue with dozens of women's organizations in the Counseling Building for the Education of Children of Dina (BK-PAUD) at Jalan Kenanga Raya Medan, Saturday (9/6/2018).

Prior to the signing of the political contract, Director of Perkumpulan Sada Ahmo (Persada) Berliana Purba said, women in North Sumatra have not received serious attention from the local government.

Berliana Purba exemplifies the high maternal mortality rate in 2017 which reached 194 cases.

It also considered that women are less involved in development planning and monitoring and lack of women's role in politics and decision-making.

Therefore, he proposed eight political agendas of women to the candidate for governor supported by the PDI-P and the United Development Party (PPP).

The eight agenda are the fulfillment of women's political rights, the fulfillment of reproductive rights, the cessation of all forms of violence against women, the protection of women in the home and informal sector, the fulfillment of women's economic rights, the fulfillment of the rights of young women and children, the fulfillment of women's education rights, and the fulfillment of the right to the environment healthy and safe.

Djarot Saiful Hidayat said, the eight agenda proposed by the women caucus is certainly a concern, even already summarized in the vision and mission with his deputy Sihar Sitorus.

The preparation of the program is not only because it wants to empower the meeting, but also because it really feels deeply indebted to the women.

"I can be like this because women, there are two women who are most meritorious in my hidypusaya mother and wife," he said.

Djarot explained that three card programs prepared namely "Kartu Sumut Pintar", "Kartu Sumut Sehat", and "Kartu Sumut Sejahtera" has direct relationship with women.

He cited the preparation of smart card that can be used for girls to continue their education, even to college. With the preparation of living expenses of Rp1 million per month for children who continue their education to college, it is expected that the women can succeed the education of their children.

Likewise, health card is beneficial for women because they get health protection by being included in BPJS program.

"Later will be free health services provided that they want to be placed in Class 3. If Class 1, must pay," he said.

Therefore, Djarot Saiful Hidayat is willing to sign the political contract because it assesses the women have a very important role in the elections of North Sumatra to determine the direction of development for the next five years. (Ant)
