INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Vice Chairman of Commission IX of the House of Representatives, Saleh Partaonan Daulay asked the producers of sweetened condensed products previously known as Sweetened Condensed Milk (SKM) to give a clear explanation about the content contained in the product.

In a written statement received in Jakarta, Thursday (5/7/2018) Saleh said the circulation of sweetened condensed products should be stopped temporarily if the producers have not provided true information.

"Before there is clarity about the product, the sales should be stopped temporarily because the packaging is explicitly written SKM If it does not contain milk as BPOM findings, certainly not worth marketed with such labels," Saleh said.

Previously, the Ministry of Health has informed BPOM as the authorization of circulation permits to pay more attention to sweetened condensed products in order not to be categorized as nutritious dairy products to increase nutrient intake.

Saleh, who is a PAN politician, said that sweetened condensed products marketed by producers must be clearly nutritional.

He wants the community not to buy products that do not contain good nutrition as advertised.

"If you look at the ads, SKM is very nutritious, then there are findings like this, it is fitting we get an official explanation from the producers Do not be impressed there are elements of fraud in it," said Saleh.

Previously BPOM has issued a circular that regulates the labeling and advertising of sweetened condensed products.

Sweetened condensed products previously called milk and used as drinks actually do not contain milk but sugar content of up to 40 percent more can be harmful to health when consumed as a nutritional enhancer drinks on a regular basis.

In response to this problem, Commission IX will again ask for clarification from BPOM.

"Although it was mentioned in the meeting, the Commission IX will ask for clarification directly to the BPOM related SKM because the media statements they convey has caused anxiety in the community, especially during this time, many people consume sweetened condensed milk to increase the family nutrition," said Saleh.
