INDUSTRY.co.id - Garut - Coffee farmers in Garut Regency, West Java, are ready to meet coffee export needs for Australia and Ukraine in 2019 with the initial delivery of 15 tons of each country.
"While each of the 15 tons and the transaction will be carried out in January 2019," said the Head of the Plantation Division of the Garut Regency Agriculture Service, Haeruman told the media crew.
He said, the demand for coffee from Australia and Ukraine was the second time, before coffee farmers from Garut managed to export coffee to Taiwan.
Coffee, which is an overseas attraction, he said, is a type of green bean with a value of Rp1.2 billion for coffee delivery to the two countries.
"The coffee that will be exported to Australia and Ukraine comes from Cisurupan, Cikajang, Cigedug and Bayongbong sub-districts," he said.
He said, the beginning of the demand for Garut coffee was directly by the Australian and Ukrainian Embassies to the Garut Regency Government, and then submitted it to a coffee farmer group called Urang Garut Original Coffee (Kasuga).
"The Embassy came to us and we immediately directed the Kasuga coffee farmer group," he said.
Kasuga Chairman, Enung Sumartini, said that coffee that had been sent to Taiwan had passed the planting period from early 2018 and had already been semi-washed.
He said, coffee from Garut farmers has good quality so that it is desirable to attract international markets.
"Garut coffee is indeed supposed to play in the international market," he said. (Ant)
