INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) notes that the average price of harvested unhulled rice (GKP) at the farm level in August 2018 is Rp.4,774 per kilogram, up 3.05 percent compared to July 2018.

"It's already in August; the harvest has begun to decline. So, it can be understood that the price of dry grain harvested at the level of farmers and mills has increased," BPS chief Suhariyanto told a news conference in Jakarta, Monday (3/9/2018)

The price of harvested unhulled grain at the milling rate in August 2018 was Rp.4,870 per kilogram, up 3.27 percent compared to the price of the same quality grain in July 2018.

The average price of dry milled grain (DUP) in farmers is Rp. 5,308 per kilogram, up 1.95 percent. While at the milling rate Rp.5,400 per kilogram or up 1.64 percent.

On the contrary, continued Suhariyanto, the price of rice in milling generally shows a decline.

"Here we differentiate between premium, medium and low rice, each of which is measured from the level of oken (broken rice)," he said.

In August 2018, the average price of premium quality rice in milling was Rp. 9,458 per kilogram, down by 0.65 percent compared to the previous month.

The average price of medium quality rice in milling is Rp9,172 per kilogram or down by 0.28 percent. Whereas the average price of low quality rice in milling was IDR 8,977 per kilogram or decreased by 0.42 percent.

The BPS also noted that the average change in wholesale rice prices declined by 0.31 percent (August 2018 to July 2018) and retail rice edged down 0.01 percent in the same period.

"That causes rice to not contribute anything to inflation or deflation in August 2018," said Suhariyanto.
