INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Speaker of the House of Representatives Bambang Soesatyo said there is no specific discussion related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) legislation in Parliament.

However, Bambang said, the House of Representatives Commission III is discussing the draft law of the General Book of Criminal Law (KUHP) which is one article on LGBT.

"I believe Mr. Zulkifli's statement is wrong because there is no specific LGBT Bill discussion, my attitude is clearly that it rejects the legality of LGBT because it destroys the nation's moral," Bambang said at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Monday (22/1/2018).

Bambang explained in the discussion in the Draft of the Criminal Code at the Commission III of the House of Representatives, the spirit of discussion in addition to rejecting LGBT, is punishment against LGBT behavior.

It is, according to him, not only in the act of immorality against minors but also same-sex relationships that can be categorized as criminal.

"Our spirit in the discussion of the draft of the Criminal Code in addition to rejecting LGBT, there is an extension of criminalizing LGBT behavior, that is not only on the abuse of minors as well as same-sex relationships can be categorized as immoral criminal," he said.

The Golkar Party politician said the House was still discussing whether the article on LGBT was included in the complaint or not but certainly there should be an extension of the criminal punishment against LGBT behavior.

In addition, he has phoned faction leaders in the DPR, all of whom expressed disagreement on LGBT behavior but his zeal extends punishment to the behavior.
