INDUSTRY.co.id - Bogor, The growth of the national cement industry is increasingly showing a positive trend in line with the government's development program.

This was conveyed by Director of PT Indocement Tunggal Perkasa Tbk, Christian Kartawijaya in Bogor, West Java (29/6/2018).

"Our total cement consumption is 66 million tons in 2017. Meanwhile, Indocement's cement grew by around six to seven percent, so the addition of four million tons," he said.

According to him, in 2017 cement consumption grew by about five percent, and by 2018 this is until May at 5.8 percent. "This is positive, the growth of cement is positive and should be addressed with gratitude," explained Christian.

It is said Christian, currently the manufacturer exposes the domino effect of development by the government running, so that cement consumption is increasing.

Because, he continued, the growth of supply is much greater than the consumption of about 10 percent. So as to make the need for cement for the next four to five years is still fulfilled.

"Currently, the Indocement utility is already 70 percent, from our 13 factories we have four factories to stop production," he said.

According to him, the closure of a number of Indocement's plants is for efficiency, because the highest cost component in the production of cement is coal to produce, and fuel for transportation.

Although closing a number of factories, Indocement continues to allocate employees in factories that are still operating. The currently operated plant has a production capacity of over 10 million tons.

"We will not build the factory again, because the existing capacity is more adequate," he said.
